Ingrediënten

  • water
  • dried instant yeast
  • sugar
  • vegetable oil
  • medium egg
  • strong white bread flour
  • fine sea salt
  • medium egg
  • sesame seeds, toasted

Bereidingswijze

  1. Place water, yeast and sugar in mixing bowl then heat 3 min/37°C/speed . Meanwhile, grease a large bowl and set aside.
  2. Add oil and 1 egg then mix 30 sec/speed 3. Scrape down sides of mixing bowl with spatula.
  3. Add flour and salt then mix 5 sec/speed 5. Scrape down sides of mixing bowl with spatula then knead Dough /3 min. Transfer dough to prepared bowl then cover with reusable wrap or cling film and leave to rise in a warm place until doubled in size (approx. 1 hour).
  4. Line a large baking tray with baking paper. Divide rested dough into 3 equal-sized pieces and shape each piece into a rope (approx. 45 cm long). Join the 3 ropes at one end, plait, and join again at the other end. Place plait on prepared baking tray, cover with a damp tea towel or cling film and leave to prove in a warm place until doubled in size (approx. 30 minutes). Meanwhile, preheat oven to 180°C.
  5. In a small bowl, lightly beat remaining 1 egg. Brush plait with beaten egg, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake for 40 minutes (180°C) until bread sounds hollow when tapped underneath. Leave to cool on a wire rack before slicing.
