Chicken and Pepper Souvlaki with Rice

Ingrediënten

  • fresh root ginger
  • garlic cloves
  • soy sauce
  • honey
  • toasted sesame oil
  • hoisin sauce
  • ground black pepper
  • chicken breasts, skinless
  • peppers
  • vegetable stock paste, homemade

Bereidingswijze

  1. Place ginger, garlic, soy sauce, honey, toasted sesame oil, hoisin sauce and black pepper in mixing bowl and mix 5 sec/speed 6. Transfer marinade to a bowl.
  2. Add chicken to marinade, stir to coat and allow to marinate in fridge for at least 15 minutes (this time can be used for preparing the peppers).
  3. Thread chicken pieces, alternating with peppers, onto skewers (approx. 18 cm long) and arrange skewers on Varoma dish and tray. Place remaining marinade, vegetable stock paste and salt in mixing bowl. Insert simmering basket, add long-grain rice to it, then add water over rice. Stir using spatula to wet all the rice. Set Varoma in position and steam 25 min/Varoma/speed 1. Set Varoma aside. Remove simmering basket with aid of spatula, transfer rice to a serving bowl and cover to keep warm. Transfer cooking liquid to a bowl.
  4. Place 400 g reserved cooking liquid and cornflour in mixing bowl, set Varoma back in position and cook 5 min/Varoma/speed 2. Set Varoma aside and adjust seasoning to taste. Serve rice with chicken skewers on top and sauce on the side, or pour some sauce over skewers and rice.
