Ingrediënten
- honey
- unsalted butter
- sugar
- plain flour
- medium egg
- ground ginger
- ground cinnamon
- ground nutmeg
- cocoa powder, unsweetened
- baking powder
Bereidingswijze
- Place honey, butter and sugar in mixing bowl then heat 6 min/70°C/speed 1. Remove mixing bowl and set aside to cool for 10 minutes.
- Place mixing bowl into position. Add flour, egg, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa powder and baking powder then knead Dough /3 min. Tip out dough onto work surface, form into a ball, wrap in cling film and refrigerate for approx. 1 hour. Towards the end of chilling time, preheat oven to 180°C. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper or silicone baking mats, dust with flour and set aside.
- Divide dough into 2 equal portions. It is important to cut out all the stencils for the gingerbread houses (see tip) in advance. Roll out one half of dough on floured baking tray (3-4 mm thick). Using a template and a knife, cut out the walls and roofs, keeping them separated on the baking paper. Repeat with remaining dough (see tip). Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes (180°C), until lightly golden. Set aside to cool completely.
- Line a chopping board with baking paper. Decorate the walls of the houses with icing, creating decorative patterns. With a slightly thinner icing, make a tile pattern on the roof (see tip). Using thick icing (of toothpaste consistency), glue them together (see tip). Fill in any irregularities and gaps with icing. Carefully glue the roof, placing thick icing on all joins and edges. Set aside to set completely for 45 minutes so that the houses keep their shape. Use the small gingerbread houses as an edible Christmas mug decoration or wrap as a gift.
